In 1967, Mike Segal and Murray Graham relocated to Orlando and Tampa, Florida, to start SESCO.

The company began by selling electrical supplies - wire, conduit and fittings. After three years of solid growth, SESCO opened a warehouse in Tampa, Florida. Three years later, the company opened a second warehouse in Hialeah, Florida.

It was in 1973 that the business underwent a transformation that would shape the company into the huge success it is today. An important lighting manufacturer invited SESCO to represent them in the state of Florida.

Shortly thereafter SESCO became a primary source of lighting for a major theme park in Orlando. SESCO's success in the lighting industry prompted the company to sell its warehouses and focus on its new found strength.

As SESCO's knowledge and reputation for quality and service expanded, more manufacturers came knocking on their door and the number of employees grew.

In 1998, SESCO completed the acquisition of a Georgia based lighting representative company, and this merger helped to improve SESCO's capabilities and provided an additional office in Atlanta.

In 1999, an office was opened in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and an international sales operation, SESCO Global Lighting, was begun, and in 2008 SESCO expanded into Tennessee, opening offices in Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville.

Today, SESCO is the nation's largest and most successful lighting manufacturers' representative company, with more than 150 employees producing over $200 million in sales annually. Today, SESCO employees own 100% of the company stock which is annually distributed to them through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
